The Bank of Namibia (BoN) has seconded its Exchange Control and Legal Services Director, Bryan Eiseb, to the Ministry of Mines and Energy to act as the Ministry’s Executive Director for a period of seven months.

Conrad Lutombi has turned down the job at City of Windhoek where he was set to become the Chief Executive Officer, The Brief can reveal.

Namibia's private sector credit (PSCE) growth is expected to remain subdued in the short term following the Bank of Namibia’s (BoN) decision on Wednesday to hike interest rates by 50 basis points, bringing the prime lending rate to 10.5% and just 25bps below the highest lending rate of the past decade, analysts have said. 

Namibian Marine Phosphate (NMP) says it has completed a final environmental- and social-impact assessment (ESIA), which includes the current and best available scientific data for the area in the ocean where it intends to mine phosphate.

The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) says members of the public still have 12 months to register their SIM cards or face disconnection as mandatory registration will only begin from the 1st of January 2023.
