Dr. Uumati, Matomola, Guiseb honored with IPM Awards

Erongo Marine Enterprises Managing Director, Dr. Martha Uumati, was awarded the Institute of People Management of Namibia Managing Director of the Year Award at the recently held 13th IPM Excellence Gala Dinner held in Swakopmund.

This award recognizes CEOs and MDs for their significant contributions to Human Resources and for successfully driving HR strategy from the top.

"IPM Namibia celebrated Dr. Uumati as a trailblazer and an authentic leader, a recipient of the African Achievers Award for her work in social impact, a Business Hall of Famer, and a woman who believes in broad-based economic empowerment of workers through the Erongo Marine Harambee Trust, through which their own employees benefit and share in the company's profits," said Tim Ekandjo, the President and Founder of IPM.

Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) received the IPM Corporate Employing Most Students award in recognition of their success in providing internship opportunities to over 254 students.

Nomad African Wellness Spa was honored with the IPM Corporate Employing Most Persons with Disabilities award for their commitment to employing disabled individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds and providing them with meaningful employment opportunities.

Cathy Kambanda, the Founder & CEO of NMHCN, an organization that focuses on depression and mental health issues, received the IPM Humanitarian Award—an honor bestowed upon an individual who has made a positive impact on society by improving the lives of others. The award is accompanied by a cash contribution of N$10,000.

The IPM Social Upliftment Award was presented to Teresia Manga, a Swakopmund resident from the informal DRC settlement.

"This award represents IPM's commitment to assisting at least one disadvantaged Namibian every year and is accompanied by a cash contribution of N$10,000," he said.

The IPM HR Excellence Award was granted to Lisa Matomola, the Founder & Managing Consultant of Hito HR & Training.

“This award recognizes outstanding HR professionals, whether in full-time HR employment or consultancy, who have made valuable contributions to the HR profession through their body of work. Ms. Matomola is celebrated for her exemplary work in the HR field and for releasing her new book titled "People First." The award includes a cash prize of N$10,000 to purchase 40 copies of her book," Ekandjo said.

The IPM HR Director of the Year Award was conferred upon Kingsley Guiseb, the Chief Human Capital Officer at NWR.

“This award acknowledges the HR Director who has had the most significant strategic impact on the business. Guiseb was specifically honored for his seasoned HR expertise, leadership in strategy implementation, and his role in establishing his organization as an employer of choice in the hospitality industry," he said.
