Coca-Cola introduces new alcohol drink

Here's some fizzy water with a kick… Coca-Cola has launched an alcoholic version of the drink.

The firm will introduce Top Chico Hard Seltzer to the UK next month.

And despite having booze in it, there are only 96 calories in each 330ml can.

After 126 years of making soft drinks the pop giant has broken with tradition to produce the hard seltzer, which has an ABV of 4.7%.

Said to be a blend of sparkling water with alcohol and natural flavours, the 330ml cans with just 96 calories, have an ABV (alcohol by volume) of 4.7% - around the same as Corona beer which is 4.6% ABV and stronger than Fuller’s London Pride which is 4.2% ABV.

Aimed at the Millennial market, hard seltzers are popular with 20 to 35-year-olds who are turning to the fizzy drink for grown ups as a lower calorie alternative to beer.

Brands like Kopparberg Passion Fruit and Mixed Berries hard seltzers are already on UK supermarket shelves including Tesco and Morrisons and discounter Aldi has recently launched its own range of Nordic Wolf hard seltzers in flavours including strawberry and lime and raspberry and blackcurrant.

Coca-Cola GB & Ireland general manager Jon Woods said: “We are excited about this launch and the possibilities for this brand.”

He added: “We are confident that we have a fantastic product in Topo Chico Hard Seltzer in a dynamic new category.

"With the strength of our system behind it, we believe Topo Chico Hard Seltzer will flourish and more importantly, offer the consumer something new and delicious.”

Following a successful trial in South America, the drink will hit Britain and Europe first with the US following next year.-mirror
