MTC invests N$1.8m in employees' side hustles through Dreamers project

April 26, 2023

Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) has extended financial support to 30 of its employees as part of its Dreamers project.

The project aims to support employees' active businesses, enabling them to pursue their own dreams and aspirations outside of the company. MTC has availed N$1.8 million for the initiative, which was launched in 2021.

The beneficiaries were chosen from 69 applicants who submitted business plans or original ideas. The selected individuals received amounts ranging from N$30,000 to N$60,000.

The initiative is intended to create a sustainable value chain for MTC employees, help create jobs, and demonstrate the company's commitment to its workers.

"As ambassadors, we are saying to you that we are not satisfied with you just working for MTC until you go out there and live your dreams. This project is aimed at making you live more than just what you do at MTC. We want you to go out there and make your family proud by living your dream and making a difference in your community," said MTC Chief Human Capital, Corporate Affairs and Marketing Officer, Tim Ekandjo.

The 30 beneficiaries will also receive business mentorship and training from MTC. The training will cover subjects such as marketing and finance management to ensure that their business ideas become a success.

One of the beneficiaries, Sesilia Auala, expressed her excitement and gratitude for the opportunity.

"I am excited and grateful for the opportunity. This support from the Dreamers' Project is an injection that will aid in translating my dream of turning my own business into reality. This is an opportunity that I am taking very seriously, and I am excited to be starting my business and creating employment for my fellow countrymen," she said.
