New ECB board appointed

Deputy Minister of Mines and Energy, Kornelia Shilunga, inaugurated a new five-member Electricity Control Board on Wednesday.

The board is chaired by Evangelina Nailenge and deputized by Prof Tjama Tjivikua. Other members include Vincia Cloete, Mburumba Appolus, and Helen Vooslo.

The new board has been appointed for a four-year term in accordance with the Electricity Act, effective from September 8, 2023, to August 7, 2027.

This comes as Robert Kahimise assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the ECB on April 1, 2023. The position had been vacant since August 2021.

The Electricity Control Board is a statutory regulatory authority established with the core responsibility of regulating electricity generation, transmission, distribution, supply, import, and export in Namibia.
