Prembly partners NAMFISA to drive fintech innovation in Namibia

Prembly, a Nigeria-based digital identity and selfie biometrics provider, joined forces with the Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (NAMFISA) to host the recently held Fintech Square event.

"We are excited to partner with NAMFISA and contribute to developing a digital identity framework for Namibia. This partnership further demonstrates our vision to strengthen innovation and inclusion in Africa, and we are committed to leveraging our expertise and resources to drive this mission forward," said Niyi Adegboye, the co-founder and COO of Prembly.

Highlighting Namibia's potential for tech innovation and development, Adegboye pointed out that the country boasts a 71.2% economically active population and a remarkable 91% literacy rate, according to the World Bank.

"This partnership will help identify opportunities, drive collaboration, and foster innovation toward building a digital identity framework for the country, thus advancing its digital economy at large," added Adegboye.

Kenneth Matomola, the CEO of NAMFISA, expressed gratitude for Prembly's support and expertise in compliance and digital security, stating, "We're most grateful to have received support from Prembly, which aligns with NAMFISA's mission to regulate and supervise Namibia's financial sector in a manner that fosters innovation, financial inclusion, and stability."

Co-sponsored by Prembly and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), the Fintech Square event delved into the challenges, innovations, and perspectives in the African fintech sector.

Established in 2021, Prembly offers user-friendly and AI-powered ID verification and fraud detection and prevention solutions for businesses operating in emerging markets across Africa.

The collaboration between NAMFISA and Prembly comes at a time when the fintech industry in Africa has experienced remarkable growth over the past eight years, as businesses have rapidly embraced new technologies and shifted to digital platforms.
